Italy was one of the last European countries to develop a commercial aviation industry, however by the mid 1930's, the Italian industry had exceeded most other European countries surpassed only by Germany and France in their annual passenger count. This poster is a reprint of the classic 1933 poster touted as "One of the finest Italian aviation posters ever produced". Its bold design uses an innovative and engaging Futurist color pallet to express the mass and movement of the Italian Airlines' fleet.
"By using green lettering below the red and white biplanes, the designer flies the colors of the Italian flag in an inventive manner" (Crouse p. 17).
