René Gruau, famous for his fashion posters, revives the spirit of the French Riveria of the 1950's when he is enlisted to promote Air France.
In this poster we simply see a brunette wearing a yellow straw hat but what is it that she is holding to her mouth? Is this flower a nod to the bitter orange tree, originally from India and appearing on the Côte d'Azur at the beginning of the 14th century, which is celebrated in their 'Fête de la Fleur d’Oranger' in mid-May
This anniversary edition of the iconic 1960's poster was published by Air France in 1983 for the airline's 50th anniversary
