Collection: Les Maitres de L'Affiche
The "Masters of Posters" series was created by artist Jules Chéret commencing in 1895. It was a superb collection of 256 small format original posters re-creating original works by 97 famous artists including Lautrec, Mucha and Chéret himself. These posters were considered by Chéret to be the best of 'La Belle Epoque' (The Beautiful Era) they were numbered, and offered on a subscription basis of 4 plates each month.
Printed by Chaix Imprimerie in Paris, using the stone lithography method, they were individually pressed and a dry watermark accompanied each print to verify its authenticity.
