Collection: Le Rire
Le Rire
Le Rire, a satirical magazine published weekly from 1894 to the 1950s, contained many illustrations from well-known poster artists. Many of the illustrations use the graceful lines and Japonesque coloration of the Art Nouveau period, but others are much more risqué. They broach many themes relevant to the times; politics, social issues, class, sex, war, entertainment, work, national identity, and much more - one might say topics covered today by late-night TV talk shows.
We have many covers and illustrations from this genre - please contact us or call into the gallery to see the complete range.
