Amsterdam's Lion King is depicted on this poster.   In 1988 ARTIS celebrated its 150th anniversary and on the 3rd of October 2023 their new Lion enclosure was officially opened.  ARTIS was founded under the name Natura Artis Magistra in 1838, with the objective of "Promoting the knowledge of Natural History".
