Created in 1919 by Leonetto Cappiello, this Crème de Luzy poster, an iconic Art Nouveau advertisement for a Parisian cosmetics firm, is considered a masterpiece of 20th-century advertising art. 
Embodying the bold, high-contrast, and elegant style of the "father of modern advertising it is set against a deep red background and features a "powdered woman"*, thought to be an aristocrat, wearing a bold yellow and black striped gown.  With her back turned towards the viewer, she is applying Creme de Luzy face cream,  showcasing the product's luxurious appeal.
The poster is and remains a popular piece of vintage decor highlighting a sense of wealth and sophistication often used to promote a "fine" cosmetic product from that era.

* Originating in France in the late1700s, women's hairstyles were tall and elaborate and  coated in white or off-white hair powder to achieve a fashionable, gray, or white look. This styling was practiced to display wealth but it also covered the smell of the pomatum used to style the elaborate look.
