"In 1947 Jackson Pollock arrived at a new mode of working that brought him international fame. His method consisted of flinging and dripping thinned enamel paint onto an unstretched canvas laid on the floor of his studio." *

This poster uses an image of Australia's famous "Blue Poles" (also known as Number 11, 1952,) painting to advertise an exhibition of Pollock's art which was conducted at eh New York Museum of Modern Art from November 1, 1998 to February 2, 1999.

The 1973 purchase of Blue Poles, which hangs in the National Gallery of Australia, sparked much controversy throughout the nation and divided public opinion due to it's price tag of $1.3 million. According the The Sydney Morning Herald it is now worth in excess of $5 million.
