Les Moulins

Auric has chosen the pivot windmill to promote the Beauce region of North-central France. With a rich history dating back to the 11th century these fascinating windmills once dotted the agricultural countryside.  On the eve of the French Revolution, there were 1789 mills in Beauce, however, today only about fifteen remain.

In French author and Naturalist Émile Zola's 1887 novel "The Earth" the windmills were described as “a lighthouse in the ocean of wheat”.
