A whimsical advertising poster for the Pupier Jacquemaire brand depicting two happy (dare we say excited) children sharing a chocolate bar.
The Pupier brand was established in 1860 by Jean-Louis Pupier in Saint-Étienne France and was commissioned by Napoleon III (nephew of Napoleon Bonaparte) to create a confectionery to commemorate victory in the Crimean War.
Unfortunately, following World War II the Pupier business fell into decline ultimately being acquired by Ets Jacquemaire, a historic French pharmaceutical and dietary company. Following the 1958 merger, Pupier was highly promoted through iconic advertising posters and promotional toy delivery vans. In 1961, Hervé Morvan was commissioned to created athis poster for the Pupier Jacquemaire brand. Today "Pupier", a line of artisanal cocoa products, is a brand of the Gourmet group.
