This image, originally painted by Vagnby, depicts possibly the most famous duck family in Denmark and was inspired by an actual event that took place in the Frederiksberg district.  During rush hour, in the spring of 1959, Mother Duck and her family stopped traffic as they crossed a busy city road.  Many onlookers; pedestrians, people on bicycles, in their cars on the trams even a postman and a Danish Royal Life Guard were held back by a policeman to allow the family to cross safely.

The image was published by the Tourist Association of Copenhagen in 1961.
